29 patients found in a day; a jump in infection rates; Instructions to wear masks in Patiala

Corona has started increasing once again in Punjab. Suddenly 29 new patients were found on Monday. This increase in corona cases has been seen in the last 2 days. On April 17, there were 55 active cases in Punjab. Which increased to 75 by the evening of 18 April. During this, the infection rate (positivity rate) of Corona also jumped from 0.12% to 0.45%. In view of this, the Deputy Commissioner in Patiala has issued instructions to the people to wear masks in public places. On Monday, 4452 samples of Kovid were taken in Punjab while 6414 tests were done.

Cases increasing in 4 districts, no new cases in 14 districts

There has been a spurt in corona cases in 4 districts of Punjab. Of these, 10 cases have been reported in Hoshiarpur, 6 in Ludhiana, 4 each in Jalandhar and Mohali on Monday. Hoshiarpur also has the highest 1.93% positivity rate. Where 10 new patients have been found after testing 518 samples. Apart from these, 1-1 corona patient has been found in Bathinda, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Patiala and SBS Nagar. No new cases were found in the remaining 14 districts.

Cases increasing in the country, advice given to people: DC Patiala

Patiala DC Sakshi Sahni said that there has been no increase in corona cases in the district. Despite this, in view of the new corona cases in the country, people have been advised to take precautions related to corona. Apart from this, people have also been asked to apply Kovid vaccine.

There have been 17,743 deaths in Punjab since the start of the Corona epidemic. Apart from this, 7 lakh 59 thousand 284 positive cases have been found so far. Out of which 7 lakh 41 thousand 466 patients have been cured. According to the report till Monday, 5 patients are still on oxygen support, while one patient is kept in ICU.
